Challenge Winners

Hello, Friends!

Well, I didn't have the stamping weekend I had planned.  A nasty headache sidelined me for the weekend.  So instead of a new card, I'd like to show you some of the honors that my cards, mainly from September, have won.

This may be the most arrogant looking post I have ever posted on my blog.  I don't think I'm an arrogant person.  I hope not because I'm usually not a big fan of people who are arrogant!

Some of the cards I have made have won different challenges that I entered them into, much to my surprise!  I'd like to share the winners with you because each win is such an honor!  It means so much to me to have other stampers say, "Good job," especially when I haven't been able to stamp for so long.

This post is much more of a "thank you" to the challenges that chose my cards as winners than it is a "look how great I am."

In the future, I will share any winners that might happen
as they are introduced to avoid a long post like this!

Back in May, I created this card I called Watercolor May Flower.  It was chosen by Happy Little Stampers as the Watercolor Challenge Winner out of 93 other cards!   I couldn't believe that my card was chosen as their favorite!  At the time, I was so sad about losing Frankfurter that I didn't share this honor with you then.  It truly was and is an honor, so I wanted to share it with you now.  I received a $20 gift certificate for stamps from the Happy Little Stamper Store and a badge which I have put on the side of my blog.

The other cards that have won awards were all made in September.

This card, You're #1 in My Book, won two awards.

From The Paper Players, it won "A Cut Above" which is an honorable mention award.  The Paper Players have a badge for this award which I have added to the side of my blog.  From The Color Throwdown, it also won an honorable mention type award where it was labeled as an eye catcher for the week.  I have played in these challenges for years and this is the first time I received any recognition from either one.  They both made me super happy when my card was chosen for the honorable mention awards.

This card, Reverse Confetti Dreamcatcher, won three awards.  I was afraid this card was too dark and dreary looking to win anything and almost didn't enter it into the Reverse Confetti sketch challenge!  I'm so glad I entered it anyways!  From Reverse Confetti, I was chosen as the 'Fetti Friend of the Month.  This means that my card was chosen as the best card entered into their challenge and I won a $20 gift certificate to their store!  This was a huge honor!  I love Reverse Confetti products and will only have a hard time spending my money because there are so many great things to choose from there!  I have added the badge for this award to the side of my blog.

This card also won another huge honor.  This same card took the Lead from Curtain Call.  This is the highest award the blog Curtain Call gives!  Along with the badge which I have added to the side of my blog, I have also been invited to be a guest designer in an upcoming challenge.  I will be the featured stamper in one of the October challenges.  This is so exciting!!!

This card also won the Just Add Ink #357 Challenge
Just Add "D" Honorable Mention.  There isn't a badge for this honor,
but it still means just as much to me!

This Hugs from my Heart card was also chosen by The Paper Players for the honorable mention award of A Cut Above for the color challenge to use pink, green, white and silver on a card.  I have placed their badge on the side of my blog.  It was another surprise to win this honor from a blog challenge that I've been playing for years!

I don't enter challenges expecting to win.  I just do them because I think they're fun.  They are great jumping-off points for me when I begin to create a card.  When one of my cards is chosen for an honor, it is always truly that- an honor.  It's always nice to feel that your work is appreciated.  It's an even bigger honor knowing how hard I've had to work to be able to get back to the point that I can stamp again.

Thank you so much to anyone who has had a hand in choosing one of my cards as a challenge winner.  I never take that recognition for granted and greatly appreciate each award one of my cards has been given!

Now, it's time to get back to making more cards!

Happy Stamping!

Honorable Mention Card Winners

Hello, Friends!

I just wanted to let you know I'm still here.  I don't have a card for you, but I do have some honors that I have wanted to share.

You may remember this goofy card I made.  The original post about the card is located here.  It won the Honorable Mention award at two different challenges!  First, it won this Honorable Mention award at Freshly Made Sketches for the 169th sketch.  You can see the post here.

Kim, who chose the card said, "I laughed out loud at Angela's charming Christmas characters peering in the circle."  Wasn't that nice?!  I'm glad it made someone smile!

This card also won the Honorable Mention award at the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge for the Critters Challenge.  You can see my card and the other winners on their blog, here.

This card is located on my blog here.  It also won an Honorable Mention award at ABC Christmas Challenge for the letter "A is for Anything Christmas."  Their blog post awarding my card and other great cards is posted here.   Their blog badges still say 2014 and my card won a 2015 challenge, so I'll wait until they add the new ones to put it on my blog.  (This card is one of my favorites.  I wonder if you can figure out why!?)

Last of all, this Milk and Cookie One Layer Card was chosen at Virginia's View Challenge #11 Clean Slate as a Top Ten Honorable Mention Card.  My card was entered at number 266 and is listed under my name in this post on Virginia's blog.

Although I have posted all of these honors at once, they are truly all honors.  Each time I opened an email and saw that one of my cards had been chosen, I couldn't believe it.  To be included with so many talented card makers has brought a lot of happiness while I'm in this waiting period in my life.  Thank you so much to each of the challenge hosts who chose one of my cards.

See you soon with another new card!  Enjoy your weekend and...

Happy Stamping!

Good News!

Hello, Friends!

I have a card to share with you.  Unfortunately, I just can't get a good picture of it tonight.  After making it and then trying to photograph it, my back is killing me.  I have good news, though.  Part of why my back hurts so bad is because I saw a new surgeon on Tuesday and he is going to be able to help me.  (It's always worse after someone examines it.)  I will be able to stay on my pain medicine until after I recover from the surgery that will fix it.  You may remember the first surgeon I saw wanted me to go off of all my pain medicine before surgery.  I tried, but was just in too much pain because my back is so bad.  This surgeon is very nice, has a very calming personality and I really liked him.  He gave us lots of information and answered all of our questions.  I'll give you more details closer to surgery about the lumbar fusion I will be having and when I'm not in quite so much pain!  It will get a little better after it settles down from being examined.

I would like to thank the Fusion Card Challenge for recognizing this card in their One Year Anniversary Celebration Challenge

I originally posted about this card here.  I received their Honorable Mention award which absolutely was an honor!

Kimberly chose my card because she liked the "clean crisp chalkboard with the lovely tassels and stars."  You can see all of the winners here.  I will be adding their badge to my blog as soon as my back allows.  Now it's back to the couch to rest for me.

Happy Stamping!

2 Card Winners and an Update

Hello, Friends!

It's Saturday night and I made a card to share with you.  Unfortunately, certain elements of it are still wet, so I can't finish putting it together.  I know this because I stuck my thumb in silver glitter and the silver glitter is now stuck to my thumb and is no longer stuck to my card.  So, I'm going to use this opportunity to do something else I've wanted to do instead- let you know about a couple of honors my cards have received!

First, this card, which was originally posted here, won the Honorable Mention Distinction at Merry Monday!  The specific challenge was to create a Winter Themed Christmas Card.  I absolutely adore this stamp from Simon Says Stamp.  I know the dog I colored red is way too big to be a wiener dog, but it has a wiener dog face and ears and it reminds me of Frank.  This honor was voted on and truly is an honor!  I will start displaying their badge on my blog proudly!

This penguin card, which was originally posted here, won the Friends With Flair challenge at Unity Stamp Company here.  I received my prize in the mail this week- free stamps!  I got a bag full of single free stamps!  My favorites were a hedgehog, a snowflake and the sentiment, "it's the most wonderful time of the year."

It's fun to enter challenges and have your work acknowledged!  I also want to thank every one who leaves comments on my blog.  You don't know how much it means to me to see that someone has taken the time to tell me they like my card or they like my wiener dog!  Either one is sweet and I appreciate the comments so much!

Finally, a little back update.  We have found a surgeon who should do my surgery even though I am on pain medicine.  To me and everyone else my family has talked to, it's common sense to do surgery, fix the problem, and then work the person off of pain medicine.  Unfortunately, my original surgeon didn't agree.  (She would have if she had been the one in the pain when I tried to go off of it like she wanted, though, I'm convinced!)  With people being on vacation for the holidays, though, it's been impossible to get my medical records to the new doctor.  He looks at the records first and then makes an appointment to see the patient.  I haven't been able to get an appointment because I haven't been able to get the records.  Hopefully, now that everyone should be back at work, we can get this accomplished quickly and then get an appointment with him so I can have surgery and get the disks in my back fixed soon.

I have found that stamping has helped get through this last setback with the surgeon refusing to do surgery while I'm on pain medicine.   That's why my blog has been super active again.  Making cards gives my mind something else to think about besides being in pain, having to wait for surgery, hating that my parents have to take care of me, etc.  They don't mind, I just wish they didn't have to do it.  There are some days when I'm just in too much pain to craft, but if I can, I'm going to keep doing it.  Entering challenges gives me a starting point and introduces new people to my blog which has been fun.

So that's the scoop on my Life With A Wiener Dog.  I'll keep making cards and sharing pictures of Frankfurter as long as my back will allow!

See you tomorrow with a dry, completed card!

Happy Stamping!

One-Layer Honor with Holiday Home!

Hello, Friends!

No- you're not seeing double and no- I didn't forget that I already showed you this card.  I wanted to share with you that the One-Layer Simplicity Challenge blog chose my card as one of their favorites from November's entries.  Since this was my first one-layer card, I was very honored that it was chosen!

On their November 28th post, Susan said,
"Angela created a lovely, home-y scene in perfect colors to pop right off the crisp, white background. Her use of glitter to accent the house and trees is spot-on, and that darling wreath is handled perfectly!"

Wasn't that sweet!  To see the other cards that were selected for this honor, click

Life with a Wiener Dog Winners!

Good Morning!

I wanted to share some honors with you that my recent cards have won.

This first is from Create with Connie and Mary.  I have wanted to win one of their Top Three Blog Picks since I started my blog!  This week, my Everybunny Easter Card was chosen for that special honor!  Here is the card I created for their sketch challenge.

I also won a challenge on Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  I have won this honor before, but it is just as special this time as it was the first.  It was another Everybunny card!  I think it's because those bunnies are just so cute!

Finally, my "Hello, Doily" card won a top pick on Stamping 411.  I like how happy this card looks, even if it's for a late birthday!  This was another honor to be chosen from so many wonderful submissions.

Now, break out your stamps, find a great challenge, and hop to it.  (That was from the bunnies!)

Happy Stamping!

CCMC194 Everybunny

Hello, Friends!

I can't tell you enough how much I love the "Everybunny" Stampin' Up stamp set.  Those bunnies (and one chick) are soooo sweet.  I just want to stamp them, color them, and cuddle with them!  So, I had to use them on another card before Easter arrives.  I know that Easter is not about bunnies, but about my Savior conquering death for all who believe in him.  I also know that Jesus made bunnies and I think He might think these bunnies are pretty cute, too.  :)

Thanks to Create with Connie and Mary for another great sketch!

Happy Stamping!

TSSC213 Everybunny

Hello, Friends!

Good Monday Morning to you!  I hope this Easter card starts your week off on a good foot.  I love this set, "Everybunny."  The bunnies are so adorable.  I just want to pick one up and cuddle with it!  This particular bunny is flying by to wish you a "Happy Easter."  I stamped the egg balloon on a separate piece of card stock, colored it, and put it on with Stampin' Dimensionals so the balloon sticks out from the rest of the card.  You can see a little bit of the shadow in the picture.

Today's sketch comes from Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  She always has amazing sketches that take the guesswork out of making a card!

Happy Stamping!

SSC241 and LNS Girly Girl Challenge Hello, Doily!

Hello, Friends!

You know the feeling when you're a day late and a dollar short?  Well, that's what prompted this card.  I actually made a family member a birthday card a couple of weeks ago so I would be able to send it in plenty of time.  I was so proud of myself.  Then, life got insanely busy (as it often does) and I didn't mail it.  So close and yet sooo far away.

So, now I have a "belated" birthday card to send instead of an "on time" birthday card to send.  You can see the first card on my blog on Wednesday.  This card was designed by following Stampin 411's sketch for this week.  It also fits the Girl challenge on Late Night Stampers.  With all the pinks, it's definitely girly!

Happy Stamping!
(and happy mailing after you stamp)

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Happiest Birthday Wishes Stamp Set and Hello, Doily and Wonderfully Worn Background Stamps
Whisper White, Pretty In Pink, and Melon Mambo Card Stock
Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series paper
1/2" Melon Mambo Scallop Dots Ribbon

I was very fortunate to receive the "Stylish Blogger Award" from Patrice Herrera. Her blog, "My Little Patch of Dirt" is amazing and I encourage you to check it out. Besides being an amazing stamper, Patrice is a sweet, wonderful, encouraging friend! I was very touched to receive this honor from Patrice.

Another great thing about this award is that you get to pass it on. I have found six ladies who are also amazing stampers and crafters who deserve this award. Please be sure to check out their blogs so you can see their amazing artwork.

TSSC144 Stamping Reflections with the Jolliest Time of the Year

If you're looking at my blog and you're a stamper, have you ever had that feeling like you're in the sweet spot of stamping?

(I learned this in one of the children's lessons at church. The "sweet spot" comes from golfing. It is the perfect spot on the golf club where you should hit the ball. Right, Chris?)

Well, anyways, I feel like I'm in the sweet spot of stamping. I feel like the cards I've made lately match my style completely. There are some cards I've made that I like okay, but they're not "me" exactly.

The "Fang-tastic" card from last week is cute and happy.
The "Season of Friendship" cards from the weekend are my more serious style, but still pretty and happy.
Today's card, made with the "Jolliest Time of the Year" is simple and happy.

I want my cards to make people smile when they receive them.

I appreciate the serious, elegant or romantic, vintage cards that other stampers make and they are definitely needed. After all, you can't send a cute and happy sympathy card.

But, if it's possible, I want my cards to make you happy. For just a second, I want you to forget all the bad things you have to deal with and smile.

Happy Stamping!
May your cards bring joy to everyone who receives them.
