Art Impression Camping Set

Hello, Friends!

I hope you had a great weekend and are off to a great start in the new week!

The current challenge at Art Impressions is to create a set of cards.  So, on Saturday, I took the challenge and got to work!  I used the stamp set, "His and Hers Camping."  I took the three main images to create my three cards.  I loved this stamp set the first time I saw it because it reminded me of going camping with my Grandma and Grandpa when I was a kid.  They had a rectangular Winnebago that we took to various camp grounds and state fairs.  We had a blast together!  I remember many laughs and could tell you many stories about the fun things that happened in and around that Winnebago.  These cards are in honor of the many great times I had in that camper and of the many great times my Grandparents had sitting in lawn chairs just like these!
Those definitely were "the good old days!"

Here is a closer look at each of my cards.

All of my cards feature the same colors and design.  This was to link them together as a set.  The way the person or camper was facing determined if the strip of camping paper and large circles were in the left corner or the right.  Typically, you don't want your image facing off of your card unless they are supposed to be looking at something off the page.  The camper was the smallest image and would have looked lost if I had used the same sized stitched circles as I had for the people, so I used a smaller size for it.  I embossed the yellow paper with a woodgrain embossing folder since these scenes would take place outdoors.  The camping papers made perfect accessories for each of my images.  The bows finished off the sentiment circles which are connected to each of the major images, which were adhered with foam tape.  I love foam tape!

When coloring my images, I wondered what my people would be drinking.  When I was first thinking about these cards, I thought about lemonade.  However, there was so much yellow already that I was afraid the yellow lemonade would get lost.  Then, I thought about red fruit punch.

Then it dawned on me!
What did my Grandparents always like to drink with meals
whether we were camping or not?

Iced Tea!!!

I used my black Copic multiliner pen to add in ice cubes.  After all, you have to have ice in iced tea!  Since their glasses were made out of glass, I also extended the straw into the drink.

I think the little details add so much to a card, and although Art Impressions stamps are more than perfect the way they are, I was proud of myself for thinking of these little extras to help define my iced tea.

My Grandpa passed away several years ago, but my Grandma is still here and will be 90 in September.  I hope when I get to show her these cards, they bring back as many great memories for her as they did for me when I was making them!

I am also entering each of my cards in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to Tie It Up, which is to add a knot or bow onto your projects.

Happy Stamping!
