SQSC37 Flower Fest

Hello Friends!

It's Wednesday already so that means it's time for a Stampin' Queens card!
Today, I used the retiring set, "Flower Fest" to make a belated birthday card for my sweet friend, Debra.  She can always put a smile on my face, so I wanted to make a happy card for her.  I've already given it to her along with lunch at Pei Wei, one of our favorite restaurants.  She liked the card (and the lunch) so it was a success!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Flower Fest and Petite Pairs Stamp Sets
Bravo Burgundy, Poppy Parade, and Peach Parfait Classic Inks
Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait and Daffodil Delight Card Stock
Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper
Fancy Flower Punch
1/2" Poppy Parade Stitched-Poly Ribbon

SFF and CCMC183 Flower Fest

Hello, Friends!

Happy New Year!

I realize I'm a little late, but you know how busy life gets at this time of year.  Now we're getting back into the normal routine, though, so hopefully there will be more time to stamp in my future.

This card was created by using two different challenges.  Today's Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge provided the sketch.   Create with Connie and Mary's color challenge provided the color palette for this card.  These were both great helps because I'm tired!  For a Christmas/New Year's vacation, I'm exhausted!  I'm glad it's time to go back to work so I can get some rest.  If only that were true!  :)
Don't you just love the new Framelits Dies?  I'm going to get a lot of use out of the new Labels Collection available in the new Occasions Mini Catalog!

Happy New Year and Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Flower Fest Stamp Set and Wonderfully Worn Background Stamp
Pool Party and Soft Suede Classic Inks
Blushing Bride, Pool Party and Soft Suede Card Stock
2011-2013 In Color Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack
Neutrals Brads
1/2" Blushing Bride Stitched-Poly Ribbon
3/8" Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon
Labels Collection Framelits Dies
Big Shot
Stampin' Dimensionals

Now check out Deb Currier's blog at http://www.artfeltimpressions.blogspot.com/ to see the card she created with this sketch.  Then, make your own card and share it with us at http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/

A Word For You, Flower Fest

Hello, Friends!

On Monday, I shared a card I made after stamping a whole sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" piece of card stock with the "Flower Fest" stamp set.

This is another card I made using another piece of that background.  You'll notice a lot of birthday cards while I'm trying to get ahead on everyone's birthdays coming up!

To give this card some dimension and make it a little more fancy, I stamped the big round flower four times in Pool Party.  I cut three of the layers out and adhered them with Stampin' Dimensionals.  They will flatten out a little bit in the mail but will still give the card some depth.  I also colored in some of the flower petals and leaves lightly to make it stand out from the background.  Since my background was already finished, it didn't take long to make this birthday card.

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin Up products to make this card:

Flower Fest and A Word For You Stamp Sets
Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant Classic Inks
Very Vanilla, Pool Party and Island Indigo Card Stock
Paper Snips

TSSC187 Flower Fest

Hello, Friends!

I hope you had as good of a weekend as we had here in Chandler!

This weekend, we had a grand opening for the new building we built at Chandler Christian Church.  It will mainly be used to reach jr. high and high schoolers, but will also have family days and other events in it.  It is awesome!  We were able to build the building and pay off a half a million dollar loan with the money people have given, in spite of the economy and people being out of work.  I got to meet lots of wonderful people this weekend giving rides in a golf cart to people coming to the new building.  Our church is growing!  The nursery, preschool, and elementary areas have grown 18% in the last year alone, which is pretty much unheard of and makes my job even better- getting to work with all of those new elementary kids!

I don't write any of this to brag, but to give God glory for all that He is doing at Chandler Christian!  I am blessed to get to be the elementary pastor here.

Now on to stamping!

If you haven't ever done so already, I'm giving you an assignment.
Take one of your favorite stamp sets, with your favorite colors and stamp all over an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of card stock, like my example below.  This will give you instant backgrounds for your cards.  My card today, with the sketch made by Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge, features a background made with "Flower Fest."  It's simple, but sweet.  My card on Wednesday will also feature another piece from this background sheet.

It makes creating a card much faster when you already have some of these backgrounds ready to go!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Flower Fest and Thank You Kindly Stamp Sets
Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder, and Elegant Eggplant Classic Inks
Very Vanilla, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder, and Elegant Eggplant Card Stock

SU Stars Flower Fest

Welcome to the SU Stars May Blog Hop. You may have arrived from Jane Hignite's amazing blog, www.stampwithjane.com. If you'd like to start at the beginning and follow the whole hop, you can begin at www.su-stars.blogspot.com. Our them is "Fabulous Florals," so be prepared to see some beautiful flowers on your trip around the internet.

I wanted to feature the new SU set, "Flower Fest" for my post. I also knew I wanted to make bright happy cards with it. (Although the card on the right doesn't use that stamp set, I made all three at the same time and they became a set so I've placed it's picture here, anyways.)

Because I love sketch challenges, my first card is based on the Pals Paper Arts sketch for this week.

This card can actually be used vertically or horizontally. Either way, I love how happy it looks!

Now, you know my blog is called "Life with a Wiener Dog." Just for proof, here is the wiener dog, Frank, offering his support by laying on the chair where I take the pictures of my cards.

For my second card, I used a sketch from Create with Connie and Mary. I didn't add the white punched piece because I'll put that piece in when I decide what occasion I will use the card for- "thank you," thinking of you," or "happy birthday."

In case you've never tried before, it's difficult to take still pictures of cards while your wiener dog walks around on your "blank canvas." I almost had the perfect shot when Frank was on the move. I told him, "Frank, stay." without really looking at where he was. Being the good dog that he is, Frank stayed. Just like this- the position he was in when I told him to stop moving. One half up and one half down.

I love that wiener dog!

Visit the next blog stop on our tour by going to Courtney Johnson's blog, www.courtscreativecorner.blogspot.com.

Then, grab your friend- human or furry- and flower stamps and start creating.

Happy Stamping!

LNS Challenge Redo

Finally, I like this card! This is my third try at it and there's finally one I can tolerate- even like!

I didn't like the first one at all. The balance just wasn't right. I don't know what else is wrong with it, but I know I didn't like it.

So, I moved the flowers over and over and came up with a little bit of a better version, but I still wasn't overly happy with it.

But now, the yellow card finally makes me happy. It's simple but happy. Just the way I like 'em.
If there's a card driving you nuts, don't give up. Try again. In my case, the third time was a charm!

Happy Stamping!
