Happy Friday! My week has been busy, but has gone by fast. There's a lot going on right now in my world! Luckily, I had time to make the card that goes along with this week's Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch. I changed the bottom sentiment a little bit. I couldn't get the "Thanks" to look right in the bottom corner. I haven't used the paper tearing technique for a long time, but I like how it goes along with the vintage theme of the card. Hello, Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's day. My valentine is short, red, a little lover boy and likes to give kisses whether it's Valentine's Day or not! We had a very nice, quite evening (perfect because we have a busy week and a half coming up!) at home. I ate a couple pieces of chocolate and he ate a bone in the shape of a heart. A good Valentine's Day was had by all at my house!
My card is based on the Stampin' Queens sketch for this week. I flipped it on it's side, but still followed the same basic sketch. I thought it turned out well. It features another Stampin' Up Sale-a-bration set. Free stamps are the best!

Hello, Friends!

You know the feeling when you're a day late and a dollar short? Well, that's what prompted this card. I actually made a family member a birthday card a couple of weeks ago so I would be able to send it in plenty of time. I was so proud of myself. Then, life got insanely busy (as it often does) and I didn't mail it. So close and yet sooo far away.

So, now I have a "belated" birthday card to send instead of an "on time" birthday card to send. You can see the first card on my blog on Wednesday. This card was designed by following Stampin 411's sketch for this week. It also fits the Girl challenge on Late Night Stampers. With all the pinks, it's definitely girly!

I had a great weekend and hope you did too! I was able to stamp a bunch of cards! Woo Hoo! It was a relaxing weekend for a change! Thank goodness!

My card today is very simple, but I've realized I like simple cards so I don't have a problem with that! My card is based on Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. I used the stamp from the Sale-a-bration stamp set, "Fresh Vintage." By punching it out with the postage stamp punch, it actually looks like a postage stamp. The paper is also from the Sale-a-bration Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper. You can receive one or the other for free with a $50 Stampin' Up order or get both with a $100 order. Hello, Friends!

In Phoenix, the temperatures are in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Now, upper 60s means that I still wore a sweater to work today and was cold sometimes because my body thinks that's a cold temperature. It is, if you live in the desert.

All that to say, it feels like spring here. I know it's January but by March and April it will feel like summer. So, after taking a nice walk outside with Frank, a bright flower seemed appropriate for today's card. This is unusal for me, but this card has no stamping on it! It's fun to think outside of the box when creating cards sometimes!

Hello, Friends!

I hope your weekend was as productive as mine was. I was able to get a lot done and am ready to start the week!

My card today is actually for my parents anniversary. My parents will have been married for 42 years in February! In a time when marriages don't always last, theirs deserves to be celebrated. I wanted to be sure I got a card made for them in plenty of time to send it. So, I made a sweet card ("looks like your style," according to my mom) for them. I hope they enjoy it!

I created my black and white card with a Valentine's Day theme by using the new Hearts Framelits Dies from Stampin' Up. This also gave me a shape card for the LNS Shaped Cards challenge.

To make my card more complex, I tried to add lots of different textures. I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to create a debossed look on the solid black scallop heart. I used the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to deboss the white heart. Then, I traced the lines with my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. The red Glimmer paper heart adds another texture and dimension since I attached it with a Stampin' Dimensional. Finally, I mounted my sentiment on Basic Black paper that had been embossed using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It is simple but elegant.

It's Friday! I don't know about you, but I am ready for it!

This is the card I created for our Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge this week. I used the new Framelits hearts in place of the circles to make my card for Valentine's Day. I cut out the big hearts with the Framelits dies and then mounted them on Riding Hood Red Card Stock which I trimmed around with my scissors. Since it was a simple card, I put the smaller heart on with Stampin' Dimensionals and added the bow, basic pearls, and bakers twine. I hope you like it!

Happy Wednesday to you! Congratulations on making it half way through the work week. Some weeks that's more of an impressive accomplishment than others. :)

This is the card I created for our Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge #22. I like this card because it's sunny and cheerful. It was also super easy to make because all of the papers and embellishments match. I'm big on things matching. When colors don't match, it bugs me. Luckily, I never have to worry about that with Stampin' Up supplies.

The new Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper and Attic Boutique Side Notes made this a quick and easy card. To non-stampers, it looks like a lot more work than it actually was. And who doesn't need less work?!

I realize I'm a little late, but you know how busy life gets at this time of year. Now we're getting back into the normal routine, though, so hopefully there will be more time to stamp in my future.

Hello, Friends

My Mom has a friend from college that we have been close to my entire life. This family has gone through more than any family I have ever seen. They had a house fire when I was a kid. They lost a son in a drowning accident. The father had to have a kidney transplant. Their grandaughter had to have a kidney transplant. Their other grandaughter definitely needs one and their son will probably have to have one as well. They have been delt more than their fair share of pain and suffering.

And yet, when you talk to them, they always say the same thing. "Oh, but the Lord has been so good to us."

The amazing thing is that inspite of all they have gone through, they mean that more than any other people I know who might say it.

Recently, the father was diagnosed with cancer. Because of the anti-rejection medicine he has to take for the kidney transplant, it caused the cancer to grow more rapidly. The doctors have said that he will make it through Christmas, but can't guarantee any more time after this.

Sometimes life is so hard.

I let my leaders at church know right away to start praying for this family and they started immediately. I made this card to send to them. Inside, it says, "I'm praying for you." Then, there are messages from my leaders for them. I pray that it is encouraging for them to know they are in so many of our prayers and that our prayers bring them comfort and peace.

What do you think the father is doing? Sitting at home being angry with God? Nope. It's my understanding he was working in the parking ministry last weekend at their church. He has notebooks of people that he prays for on Sunday afternoons. I imagine he was praying for those people, as well.

They are true examples of lives that are lived for the glory of God, no matter what.

I am humbled by their example and love them very much.

Although it can't be seen in the picture, the cross is put on with Stampin' Dimensionals and stands out from the card. After all, it is the cross that gives us hope and through which all blessings come.

I am not an arrogant person by nature. That being said, this is one of my favorite cards I've ever made! See why I needed the disclaimer?!

I have loved the set, "Holiday Lineup" for a long time but haven't made many cards with it. So, today was the day I shared my love of it with the world. Thanks to Patrice for the great sketch for our Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge this week. It worked perfectly for this card.
