SFF and Revenge of the Haboob

Bu
This is not my best card ever. I apologize because this is a great sketch. Later in the coming week, I will come back to it and make a better one. I blame the Revenge of the Haboob.

Haboobs are no longer funny to me, even with the name "haboob."

"Why?" you ask.

Because when the dust settles, literally, the dust settles...everywhere.
Everywhere.

My entire house has a fine layer of brown dust on everything.
Everything.

There is a pile of dirt inside my front door from when the 50 mph winds blew it in. My couch and loveseat have that dust on them. The floor, the Stampin' Up catalog on my coffee table, the coffee table, the cupboard doors in the kitchen, all my appliances, everything is covered in that dust.

I spent hours tonight cleaning my living room and kitchen and they still need vacuumed and mopped again.

I had planned to use my new stamps which came today to make the Sketch Frenzy Friday card. I was not procrastinating. I had planned this for over a week. But when it was time to stamp, I was exhausted. So, on my stamp table I had just cleaned, was this green and pink Sizzix cut out with the butterfly and flower punches on it. It had the square from the sketch on it and was close enough and I was tired enough that I tried to make it work for this sketch. The bow didn't look right on the side horizontally, so I had to put it on vertically.

Tomorrow, I will add the ingredients for this card, but now I'm going to bed.

I fought the haboob and the haboob won.

Go to Deb Currier's blog at www.artfeltimpressions.blogspot.com to see a better card made with this sketch. Then make your own and share it with us at www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com.

Happy Stamping!

Love, Angela and the wiener dog
who slept on the couch the whole time I was cleaning.

I believe this is where the phrase "Lucky Dog" originated.

VC Rocks Big Shot Blog Hop with Tasteful Trim

Hello! Welcome to the June 2011 VC Rocks Blog Hop. This month, we're all featuring projects we made using our Big Shot Machine. You can start at the beginning of the hop to see all of our projects at http://www.vcrocks.blogspot.com. If you've been following the hop, you probably came from Heidi Sorg's blog, http://www.cheekiesinkpad.blogspot.com/.

I decided to use a lot of my favorites to make this card. I used the "Tasteful Trim" Bigz Big Shot die to make the waves. It reminds me of a quilt you would find in a little girl's bedroom. "Tasteful Trim" is definitely one of my favorite Stampin' Up dies and can be used for a lot of different looks. I also chose to use our new In Colors for 2011. I love how they are so tranquil looking when placed together. The sentiment stamp from "All Holidays" is another one of my favorites. It will soon be retired so I wanted to make at least one more card with it!

After the hop, be sure to break out your Big Shot and make a card featuring your favorites with it!
Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

All Holidays and Itty Bitty Bits Stamp Sets
Island Indigo and Wisteria Wonder Stampin' Write Markers
Versa Mark Ink Pad
Whisper White, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Wisteria Wonder Card Stock
Tasteful Trim Bigz Extra Large Die
Big Shot

TSSC161 Party Hearty

Happy Monday, Everyone!
This sketch by Mary Jo for the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge is a cutie! It was perfect for some birthday cards I needed. I got the color combination from my SU Color Coach. It's a lifesaver when you don't want to keep reaching for the "usuals" we tend to gravitate towards.

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Party Hearty, Itty Bitty Bits, and So Happy For You (a free stamp set during Sale-A-Bration!)
Pretty In Pink, Rich Razzleberry, and Early Espresso Classic Inks
Very Vanilla, Pretty in Pink, Rich Razzleberry, and Early Espresso Card Stock
Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack

Final Tribue to Spring and Summer

I live in Arizona, so to tell you the truth, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter really don't look that different. Sure, you can kind of tell it's winter here, because we natives get cold when it gets down in the 60s and we all wear sweaters. But if you looked outside, my part of Arizona looks about the same all the time.
Even so, as a midwest girl, I know that this card is probably the final spring-y, summer-y looking card I'll be showing for a while. I miss the seasons so I try to pretend we have them, even though we actually don't.
So, goodbye spring and summer cards. Hello fall and winter!

This card was made for a VC Rocks Punch Card swap I was in this summer. I only used Melon Mambo. I stamped one butterfly and then a second without re-inking the stamps. I also did this on the little flowers. You have a guaranteed match because it's just a lighter version of your original color.

I cut out two of the lattice shapes from Certainly Celery and Pear Pizzazz. When I adhered them to the card, I put them a little off to give the appearance of a shade behind the first. This added more depth to the card. With just one layer, it looked pretty flat.

Only one wing of each butterfly is adhered so the other wing can stand out from the card.

I used the following Stampin' Up supplies to make this card:

Butterfly Prints and Itty Bitty Bits Clear Mount Stamp Sets
Melon Mambo Ink
Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery, and Pear Pizzazz Card Stock
Butterfly Extra Large Punch and Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack
Lattice Bigz Die
1/8" Certainly Celery Taffeta Ribbon

It's Friday! Got Cards?

This was such a fun sketch! Since my original squares didn't seem large enough, I added a few more layers. I turned the sketch to make my center picture fit a little better.

I love this color combination which I got from the new Color Coach!
It may be my favorite tool because it helps me use the things I already own in creative combinations that I wouldn't have thought of- at least as quickly as thumbing through the Color Coach!

Some of the products I used for this card are in the new Stampin' Up! Catalog which was just released on July 1st.
If you'd like to see one, let me know!

I used the following Stampin Up Products to make this card:

Got Treats and Itty Bitty Bits Clear Mount Stamp Sets
Wild Wasabi and Chocolate Chip Classic Inks
Whisper White, Pretty In Pink, Wild Wasabi, and Chocolate Chip Card Stock
1 1/4" Square Punch, 1 3/8" x 5/8" Oval Large Punch, 1 3/4" x 7/8" Oval Large Punch, and Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack Scallop Circle Punch

If you'd like to see another card based on this sketch, check out Brenda Taylor's blog next!

I hope you enjoy my card!
