You're #1 in My Book!

Hello, Friends!

I can hardly believe it is September!  It seems like just a few weeks ago we were celebrating the arrival of spring and now fall is approaching!  August and September always hold a very special place in my heart
because it's Back to School season.

I loved teaching.  My favorite years were when I taught first and then second grade.  I loved getting my classroom ready.  I loved new textbooks and freshly sharpened pencils.  I loved the calendar on the wall we would put the date each day and the weather section where we would talk about the day's forecast.  Most of all, I loved the excitement of meeting a new class.  We would be spending a lot of time together over the next year.  They would become my kids and no matter how many years pass, I still care about them all!  Thanks to Facebook, I can still keep in touch with some of them which is exciting to see where their lives are headed!  I only left teaching because I believed God was calling me to a position where I could teach kids the importance of having Him in their lives, something I believe is even more important than reading and writing.  While I enjoyed that as well, I always reminisce in August and September about those years I spent teaching.  They always bring a smile to my face!

So, with those years in mind, I made today's card.  Since I don't particularly have anyone to send "back to school" cards to, I made this card a little more general so it could go to any special friend.  The stack of books definitely reminds me of the back to school theme, though. My favorite part is probably that cute little bookworm ready to help our little friend with her reading!

Sketch Challenge 348 #mftstamps

I am entering this card in three challenges.  The Paper Players Challenge PP360 is a Back to School theme challenge which is perfect for this card I was planning.  The Color Throwdown Challenge 458 was a perfect match for my theme.  Finally, the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge 348 was perfect for my little girl on the stack of books, especially since they are the company that manufactured her!

Also, did you know Kathy Rascoosin is doing her 30 Day Coloring Challenge again this month?  You can find out all of the details on her blog, the Daily Marker, right here.  I try to do it every time she has one.  So far I've been more successful than ever.  There's no pressure and it's just for fun.  You can jump in anytime, so feel free to start coloring for at least five minutes a day and you're in!

I'm posting my coloring projects, along with my cards, on my
Instagram Feed here.

I'd love to have you follow along!

Happy Stamping, Friends!
