Off Kilter

Hello, Friends!

I've been anxious to make a card with this stamp since I got it.

Because, don't we all feel like this some days?

This is Madge.  At least that is what the stamp's name is so I can only assume it is her name as well.  Madge was one of the stamps I had planned to color during the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  When I saw the Art Impressions challenge for these two weeks was Off Kilter, I thought this poor lady would be perfect and moved her up in my coloring.  Let's face it, she looks a little off kilter, herself!  The focal point of my card, the lady and the frame around her are both off kilter as well, which is what the challenge was really supposed to reflect!

While the card itself is pretty straight forward, I will tell you about Madge, the focal point.  First, I colored her with my Copics.  Then, I stamped her shirt onto a piece of patterned paper and fussy cut it out.  To make her pants match a little bit better, I put red polka dots on them.  I also went over the red dots on her shirt with the same marker to be sure they matched exactly.

I used a Riley and Company stamp on the inside.  Honestly, I forgot to take a picture of the inside.  So here is the stamp, When I Was A Kid, copied from Riley and Company's website.  I stamped it in My Favorite Things Red Hot Ink which matches the red card stock on the outside.

Isn't this stamp wonderful?  When you're a kid, you just want to be older.
When you get older, you realize how great it was to be a kid,
if you were fortunate enough to grow up in a good familiy.

Oh, Madge, I don't know what's on your mind.
I am pretty sure I've felt exactly like you do on this stamp, though.
Take a deep breath, Madge.  Whatever it is, it will get better!

Happy Stamping!

L.O.L! The perfect off-kilter card! Love your Copic coloring and especially the little red dots on her pants to coordinate with her shirt! Madge may be "off" but she still has some fashion sense :-)

Oh how fun! My mom's name was Marjorie but she went by Marge. For some odd reason at one point some of us started calling her Madge so this card would have been perfect for her. Her later life was not what she expected with the Alzheimer's either and had several episodes sort of reminding me of this card. Your coloring is so wonderful and I love the paper pieced shirt! So bright and colorful. This just makes me smile. Love it!
