SSW2-38 All is Bright

Hello, Friends!

It is just a few short days until Christmas!  Can you believe it?  I know I, for one, cannot.  For those of you who follow my blog, I am very thankful I have decided to go a different route with back surgery.  Had I been working off the pain medicines before surgery, the month of December would have been painful and miserable.  Instead, I've had a nice month with my family and I've gotten to keep busy making Christmas cards to share with all of you.  Besides- doesn't it sound dumb to take away someone's pain medication before you've fixed the problem that is causing the excruciating pain?

Common sense...the most uncommon thing in the world!

While I wish I was just two weeks away from surgery instead of back at the beginning getting into a new surgeon, having a doctor who listens and cares about the terrible pain I am in, which all my test results prove, will make it worth the wait.  Until then, I'll just keep stamping away.  I have asked Santa to bring me new disks to go in between the vertebrae in my lower back.  I don't think he typically does that sort of thing, but I'm not going to blow my chance by not asking!  LOL!

Now onto my card!  This cute stamp set, "All is Bright" is by The Cat's Pajamas.  When they have new stamps come out, they do a release party on Splitcoast Stampers.  Last month, I missed it because I had the date wrong and cried!  That's how much fun and nice the ladies are.  The fact that it's a way for me to communicate with people outside the house who aren't suffering with back problems makes it even better, so I was really sad when I missed it.

Shortly after the party, a package of The Cat's Pajamas products came to my house, giving me new goodies to play with and that helped me get over my missed party.  This is the first card I have made with their stamps.  I love the bunny, who's name is Bun Bun.  A lot of their sentiments are funny, which I also like.  Besides "All is Calm, All is Bright" you could also stamp "You light up my life," or "I'm already on the naughty list."  Isn't that hilarious!  They also included the sentiment "Wishing You A Bright And Sparkling Holiday."  So there's a mixture of funny sayings and serious sayings.  I thought, "All is calm, All is bright" from Silent Night for a bunny wrapped in lights was perfect!

My sketch challenge came from a new to me blog called, Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2.  I wanted to make a card with a lot of layers and this one definitely fit the bill!  Because I wanted to make a card in the A2 Rectangular shape instead of a square shape, I had to make a few changes.  For example, I had to change some of their squares to rectangles for the bottom layer.  Hopefully you can still see this great sketch in my card.  I encourage you to go and check out this sketch on Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 to see how their design team created cards with this sketch.  When I would get lost on what layer I was supposed to be on, I frequently studied the design team samples.  Plus, their samples are adorable and it's always fun to check out other people's cute cards.  There's Wink of Stella on my lights but I can't figure out how to get it to show up on camera when I take a picture.  If you have any tips, please share!

So that's the story behind sweet Bun Bun coming into my life bring light, laughter and joy!

Merry Christmas and Happy Stamping!

What a fabulous compliment. Thanks for the kind remarks about our DT. Sorry to hear about your back Angela. My neighbor just had the surgery and has struggled with pain. It's been a long process so I really DO hope that Santa gifts you (I asked for a svelte figure!) Your card is so sweet. Love that fun "wascally" wabbit.

Hello Angela, Your card is so cute! It really brought a smile to my face. And I love all the possible sentiments you mentioned! You did a great job on the sketch! Thanks so much for playing along and supporting us at SSW2! Best wishes on your surgery or whatever your new surgeon decides. Hang in there...all will work out for the best!
Merry Christmas!

I looooove it! I did a Bun Bun card too, but I was starting to feel like I was hogging the TCP entries so I didn't post it, but it's in my SCS gallery. Yours is way better though, I love the color combinations you chose. I went a little hog wild with Glossy Accents on the lights, lol. Oh btw, TCP is having a year end sale up to 40% Dec 26-31!!!
