VC Rocks Blog Hop: Rock Your Creativity with Stampin' Up! Punches or Sizzix Dies

Hello, Friends!

Welcome to our 2nd (my 1st) VC Rocks Blog Hop for this summer.  Our theme for this hop is, "Rock Your Creativity with Stampin' Up Punches or Sizzix Dies."  To follow our hop from the beginning, begin at this link.

I used this opportunity to make a card for my friends, Sam and Ashley, who just had twin boys earlier this month.  The card will be traveling from Illinois to Arizona, so I wanted it to be pretty flat so it would survive the trip!  I made it by using two brand new Framelits sets!

I started by making a base from Crumb Cake Card Stock.  Using the "Decorative Dots" Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, I embossed a smaller piece of Coastal Cabana Card Stock.  Then, I put the brand new Stampin' Up Framelits set, "Baby's First" set to work!  This set has a matching stamp set, although I chose just to use the dies for this card.  I used the Framelits to cut out the onesies and neck ties from the new "Maritime" Designer Series Paper.  The little socks were cut from Night of Navy Card Stock.  I could have just adhered the pieces on top of the Coastal Cabana Card Stock, but I decided to do something a little bit different.

I arranged the onesies and socks on my card so they were placed where I wanted them on the Coastal Cabana Card Stock.  Then, I put the onesie and socks framelits directly over the paper cutouts on the left side.  I used blue painters tape to keep them in place and cut the shapes out of the background paper with my Big Shot.  (Blue painters tape is temporary so it will hold paper or dies in place on other paper without tearing if you remove it carefully.)  Then, I repeated this process on the right side.  Now, my Coastal Cabana paper had two onesies and four socks cut out of it.  Because I ran the embossed paper through the Big Shot two extra times, the "Decorative Dots" didn't show up quite as well as the first time I embossed it.  I liked the softer feel this gave, so it wasn't a problem.

Next, I put adhesive all over my Crumb Cake card front and adhered the Coastal Cabana paper to it.  Since I put adhesive all over the card, there was adhesive in the holes where the onesies and socks went.  I just had to put them in like puzzle pieces.  I ran my hand over the whole card to make sure everything was stuck to the Crumb Cake paper well.  I adhered the two red ties with Stampin' Dimensionals so the card had a little bit of dimension to it but was still relatively flat for the mail.

Finally, I cut the number "2" out of the matching Real Red Maritime patterned paper that matched the two neck ties.  I also cut one from a piece of Night of Navy Card Stock for a shadow.  The number "2" came from the new Framelits set, "File Tabs."  It was the perfect size to celebrate two perfect baby boys.  I only wish I could deliver myself so I could start spoiling Benjamin and Aaron already!

Thank you for reading about my card for our VC Rocks Blog Hop.  To continue on this hop, go back to this link.  If you're wondering how Frank the wiener dog is doing or how my back is hanging in there, please check back on Monday.  I will have a new card and updates to share!

Happy Stamping!

I love this paper, and it's perfect for the onesies! I have a brand new grandnephew coming later this year and he lives near the Chesapeake Bay. Probably a good choice for him!
