SFF Happiest Birthday Wishes

Hello, Friends!

If you've been following my blog for very long, you know "boy" cards are the hardest for me to create!  However, since I have male family members and men who are leaders in my ministry, I must create cards for boys even if they usually stump me at first.

Thankfully, everything at Stampin' Up is created to work together.  So the papers, ribbons, brads, etc. all match each other.  I love this!  I knew the new "Well Worn Designer Series Paper" would help me as a starting point for some masculine cards.  With Patrice's Sketch Frenzy Friday design, I was able to make a boy card I was happy with.  This specific one went to my Uncle Steve for his birthday.  I hope he liked it!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Happiest Birthday Wishes Stamp Set
Cajun Craze and Not Quite Navy Stampin' Write Markers
River Rock, Cajun Craze, Not Quite Navy and Early Espresso Card Stock
Well Worn Designer Series Paper
3/8" Not Quite Navy Taffeta Ribbon
Regals Brads

Now, check out Deb Currier's blog, http://www.artfeltimpressions.blogspot.com/ to see the card she created with Patrice's design.  Then, make your own and share it with us at http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/.  We can wait to see what you've made!

SQSC6 Delightful Decorations

Hello Friends,

It's Wednesday so it's time for another Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge.  I love these sketches because they are pushing me out of my comfortable little box!

I made a bright, fun Christmas card for this week's challenge.  I must say, it looks a lot better in person than it does in the picture!  The ornaments and sentiment stick out from the card where I used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere them.  You can also see the texture to the Quilted Satin Ribbon.  It is so fun and I love the shiny look it has.

Be sure to make your own card based on this sketch and share it with us this week.

Happy Stamping!

TSSC193 Gently Falling

Hello, Friends!

I hope your new week is off to a great start!

I just can't get enough of this stamp set, Gently Falling.  It is so delicate and pretty!  I also love the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper, both of which are in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Today's wonderful sketch was created by Mary Jo for her Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge on her blog.

To make my leaves, I embossed the outline stamp with Gold Embossing Powder.  Then I colored them in with blender pens for a soft look.  Finally, I put Crystal Effects on them and let them dry so they would have a shiny appearance.
Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up supplies to make this card:

Gently Falling Stamp Set
Cajun Craze, So Saffron, More Mustard, Certainly Celery, Garden Green, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, and Early Espresso Classic Inks
Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Soft Suede, and Early Espresso Card Stock

SFF Gently Falling

Hello, Friends!

Happy Friday!
It's been a long week and on Sunday, I'll kind of be glad to see it go!  Lots of sad things happened this week to people I care about a lot.  This card is for one of them.  Although there's no "fall" in Phoenix, I'm refusing to let that stop me from pretending there is!  So my card has a fall theme.  I hope it brings the special lady it's going to some peace and comfort as I keep her in my prayers.

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Gently Falling and Thoughts and Prayers Stamp Sets

TSSC192 and LNS Challenge Button Buddies

Hello, Friends!

Let me start with something totally un-card related.  This is the "Life" in "Life with a Wiener Dog."

Today is September 19th.  14 years ago today, someone very special to me was killed in a car accident.  I know he is Home, running around with bare feet on the streets of gold.  I offer my deepest thanks to him, for shaping my view on life and eternal life.  He showed me that Our God is truly an Awesome God.  I miss him, think of him often, listen to his words of wisdom, and am forever changed by the example he set.

For all you are and all you mean to me, thank you, friend.

My card today is based on Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  I turned it sideways to accomidate my "baby" card for the LNS Design Team Challenge this week.

Happy Stamping!

SFF and LNS Challenges Up, Up & Away

Hello, Friends!

Happy Friday to you!  My card today is based on the sketch challenge on the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog.  I switched it a little to make clouds instead of the scallop shape in the sketch.  Hopefully, you can see how one thing led to another to get this cute birthday card from the original sketch.  The clouds have Stampin' Dimensionals behind them so they stick out a little from the blue sky which I think adds a lot to the card.  I also used 2 In Colors so my card also fits the LNS Challenge this week.

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Up, Up and Away and Out on a Limb Stamp Sets
Concord Crush, Early Espresso and Basic Black Classic Stamp Pads
Poppy Parade and Concord Crush Stampin' Write Markers
Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Bashful Blue and Concord Crush Card Stock

SQSC4 Jolliest Time of the Year

Hello, Friends!

This week, I have another fantastic sketch to show you from Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge.  Isn't it fun?!  I'm normally a pretty simple stamper, so these challenges have been great to make me step out of my comfort zone.  I started to make a fall card, but I noticed some of the other ladies were doing that, so I decided to make a Christmas one instead.  I'm happy with how it turned out.  I love the happy snowman from "Jolliest Time of the Year."  It makes me ready for Christmas, even if it is only September!

Happy Stamping!

FTL157 Snow Much Fun

Hello, Stampers!

After such a serious day on September 11, it seems kind of silly to be sharing a Christmas card today.  So sharing my card today is not to diminish the loss so many are feeling on the tenth anniversary.

I made this card based off of a sketch by "Clean and Simple Stamping."  If the card were completely shut, you would see a strip of Crumb Cake Card Stock from the back of the card.  Unforunately, I couldn't get a good picture of that, so you're only seeing the front.

I thought it turned out cute and shows my love of country decorating and style.  It shows my midwest roots, even if I'm now living in the desert.  :)

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Snow Much Fun Stamp Set and Wonderfully Worn Background Stamp

9/11/11

It is Sunday, September 11, 2011.

I remember Tuesday, September 11, 2001 as if it were yesterday.  I remember that I was teaching and didn't have to be to work until later than usual on Tuesdays.  I remember Matt Lauer and Katie Couric on the Today show talking more than usual and leaving my kitchen to go back into the living room to see what was going on.  I remember talk of one plane hitting the World Trade Center, then another.  I remember calling my Dad, who was in his car, and my Mom who was at the chiropractor.  I called the library where she worked first, forgetting she had that appointment.  When my morning classes were done, I remember calling my Dad, a state employee who had been sent home.  I remember him saying, "They hit the Pentagon, too." and that the second tower had also fallen.  I remember it as if it were yesterday.
I remember going to church that night, an impromptu gathering.  I had just had Frankfurter for a week or two.  As a tiny puppy, he slept on my lap as we prayed.

Even though I have seen it many times, it hurts just as much to see the planes hit and the towers fall, the Pentagon on fire, and the empty field where flight 93 went down.  It is just as bad today as it was ten years ago.

I have the same reaction every time, although I don't realize it until minutes later.  Every single time, I realize my hand is at my mouth.  It is placed there in a silent gasp.  Although I know what is coming, this time I hope it will be different and that it won't happen.  I know that's silly and naive, but it is always my prayer.

To the families and friends of those lost in United 93, the Pentagon, and the World Trade Center towers, my prayers are with you continuously.  To the many workers who are ill from breathing the toxic air at Ground Zero and those suffering with the images they saw in those days following September 11th, I pray for you and your families as well.  To the service men and women, who are not safe tonight because they are fighting to ensure my safety, you and your families are also in my prayers.  This is not a one time prayer because of the date but one that started ten years ago and will continue for many, many more.
May God bless you and may God bless America.

Angela

Hopping Just For the Fun of It Gently Falling

Hello, Friends!

Welcome to the first blog hop of a new Stampin' Up group, "Hopping Just For The Fun Of It."  You can begin the blog hop or follow the order if you get lost by starting here.  Or, you may have arrived from Veronica's blog, "Bluegrass Stamper Studio."

Our theme for this hop is "All Holidays."  This means the projects you see on our hop will feature different holidays, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and more.

This is the card I created in honor of Thanksgiving.

It's fall in many places in the US right now.  Southern Arizona is not one of them.  However, my midwest roots are coming through and I've been ready for fall, in spite of the temperatures still being over 105 degrees.
So, I got out my fall candle, Mulled Cider, lit it, and made this card.

I ran out of room to put "Happy Thanksgiving" on the front, so it will have to go inside.  I hope it captures the spirit of fall and a time dedicated to being thankful!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up supplies to make this card:

Gently Falling Stamp Set
Stampin' Pastels
Very Vanilla, More Mustard, and Early Espresso Card Stock
Spice Cake Designer Series Paper
VersaMark Ink
Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder
Heat Tool
1 1/4" Early Espresso Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
Gold Glow Smooch Spritz
Stampin' Dimensionals

Now, to continue on our hop, please go to the next blog by clicking here to visit "Stamper Shirley."

SFF and PPA110 Out on a Limb

Hello, Friends!

I created this cute Halloween card for our Sketch Frenzy Friday blog challenge this week.  It features the stamp set "Out on a Limb" from the new Holiday Mini Catalog.  Isn't it fun?!  I'm not a big Halloween person, but I was happy with how this card turned out.  The challenge on Pals Paper Arts Blog this week is also to create a Halloween project, so my card works for it as well!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Out on a Limb and Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Sets and Wonderfully Worn Background Stamp
Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Basic Gray, and Basic Black

SQSC3 Forest Festivities

Hello, Friends!

Welcome to the Stampin' Queens third sketch challenge.  You can see the other cards that the amazing stampers created with this same sketch by going to the Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge Blog

My card features the new stamp set, "Forest Festivities" which is in the new Holiday Mini Catalog.  I thought the set was cute when I first saw it.  However, when I saw the best present ever peeking out from one of the boxes, I knew I had to have it.  Especially since it could pass for a wiener dog.

I used my blender pens to color the Christmas packages.  Of course, I colored the little dog to match Frankfurter, complete with his brown nose instead of a black one!

I can kind of envision Stampin' Up executives sitting around a table going "Put a cute dog on that stamp.  Angela will definitely buy it now."  Although I don't have that much power for the SU execs to be talking about my preferences, if they did say that, they would be right!  :)

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Forest Festivities Stamp Set and Wonderfully Worn Background Stamp
Poppy Parade, Real Red, Riding Hood Red, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, Old Olive, Garden Green, and Always Artichoke Classic Inks and Stampin' Write Markers

SSC219 and LNS Patriotic Lean On Me

Hello, Friends!

Let me first start by apologizing for the picture above.  It's definitely not the best ever of a card that's much cuter in person.  Unfortunately, I am getting yet another migraine headache and just want to post this and crawl into bed in my dark, cool bedroom.  Hopefully after a good night's rest, it will be gone in the morning and I won't have to stay in my dark, cool bedroom!

The LNS Challenge this week is to make patriotic cards in honor of the tenth anniversary of the September 11th tragedy.  I don't have a lot of patriotic stamps, so I made this card instead.  When I think of September 11th, one of the things that stands out in my mind is how the whole country seemed to come together to support each other during an incredibly difficult time in our country's history.  I used Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy and Crumb Cake inks as darker colors of our red, white and blue.  I followed the sketch from Stamping 411 as my guide.  Luckily the card was already made before the migraine hit and only the picture needed to be taken.

Happy Stamping
(without any more nasty headaches!)

HSS82 and SFF Hello Doily

Hello, Friends!

I hope you are as excited for the Labor Day weekend as I am!  It's too hot in Arizona to do much outside.  Okay, anything outside.  So, I'm looking forward to a peaceful, relaxing weekend.  It's been a busy month!  My plan is to clean and do household things on Friday and Saturday so I can spend time with friends and stamp on Sunday and Monday.  I hope you, too, have a safe and happy weekend!

My card today for the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge features the "Hello, Doily" background stamp.  Because I used shades of purple, it also fits the monochromatic challenge on the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog.  When I first saw it, I decided I didn't need it because it was similar to the Medallion background stamp.  Then, I saw card after card made with it.  Every time I saw it, that stamp would remind me of the doilies my Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma had made.  It instantly takes me back to their homes as a little kid watching them crochet.  With my Grandma's birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, I knew I wanted to make a special card for her with it.  I hope she likes it!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Hello, Doily Background Stamp and Petite Pairs Stamp Sets
Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink
Confetti White, Wisteria Wonder, and Elegant Eggplant Card Stock
3/8" Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon
Large Oval and Scallop Oval Punches

Now check out Deb Currier's blog, http://www.artfeltimpressions.blogspot.com/, to see the card she made with this sketch.  Then make your own card and share it with us on http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/
