A Christmas Card Made with a Birthday Stamp Set!

Hello, Friends!

I'm so excited for today's post because it's the one that
Kim Heggins of Cupcakes, Cards and Kim
and I are doing together for the month of November!

This month, it was my turn to decide on our challenge.  With Christmas coming right around the corner, I decided our challenge should be to take a stamp set that wasn't designed to be a Christmas stamp set and
make a Christmas card with it!

If you're like me, you love to find ways to make your stamps or dies more versatile.  If you can use a birthday set to make some Christmas cards, that's a fun way to challenge yourself and stretch those products!

I used My Favorite Things Birdie Brown Birthday Bears stamps for my card.

Birthday presents can easily be turned into Christmas presents just by the colors you choose to use when coloring them.  I chose the traditional Christmas colors of red, green and added turquoise for my presents.  Most of the cards I have seen with this stamp set has the bears colored in different browns.  By leaving my bears white with some gray accents for shadows, they look like more like Polar Bears which are seen on Christmas cards more often than brown bears.  That being said, I think brown bears would have also been cute, I just decided to leave them white.

By using patterned paper that could also be used for Christmas cards, I also added more of a Christmas feel to my Birthday Bears.  Although the red, green and turquoise dotted stripes could also be used for other cards than just Christmas, the lighter red with snowflakes behind the bears definitely brings Christmas to mind!

Finally, I added the sentiment, "Merry Christmas" to my card.  If there was any doubt that this was to be a Christmas card before, this should definitely clear up any confusion!  :)  Although I stamped it in green pigment ink so
it would remain green on the patterned paper, it looks darker in the picture.  The rest of the colors are spot on, so I'm not sure why this is a bit darker.  In real life, the green sentiment goes along very well with the presents and patterned paper to continue the traditional Christmas colors.

I love the Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frame dies from My Favorite Things that I used to make the red frame for my bears and snowflake patterned paper.  The stitched scallops are so fun and cute!  After all of my card front was finished, I added my bears with 3D foam tape, which is another love of mine!  It gives the bears just a little bit of dimension and adds interest to the card!

Be sure to check out Kim's blog today to see the card she made
with this month's challenge.  You can find it on her blog at
I haven't seen her card yet, but I have no doubt that it will be cute!!

It was so much fun to make a card again!  Being a new mom with a puppy who likes my undivided attention doesn't leave as much time to stamp as I would sometimes like.  However, when a sweet little puppy wants you to hold him, you definitely hold that adorable little guy!  I'm certainly not complaining!  As Gunner gets more and more comfortable, he doesn't mind being a few feet away from my side, so hopefully, I'll be stamping more often soon!

Thanks to Kim for doing this month's challenge with me!
It's something I've come to look forward to every month!

Happy Stamping, Friends!

Oh so beary cute! I agree with you about seeing more polar bears during this time of the year as I guess the others are maybe hibernating? Anyway, yours are so cute! I love the bright and cheery look and it fits Christmas perfectly! Love the bright and cheery papers you used! That rectangle scalloped border with the faux stitching is perfect! I love the little stitched framelits I have so maybe I need to add this to my collection. I like Kim's card too as it looks so yummy in the holiday colors. Give Gunner a little belly rub for me!
