You're Sew Thoughtful with Someone who is So Thoughtful!

Hello, Friends!

Welcome to Life with a Wiener Dog!

Whether this is your first visit to my blog or you've been following it for years, I'm so glad you are here today!

My regular blog followers know that I have been making and posting my cards here for years!  Seven, to be exact!  However, over the last four years, I have been battling a severe back injury that has left me disabled.  Until recently, I was unable to stamp with any regularity because of my back.  One way I kept in touch with stamping during the long time I wasn't able to do it myself was to follow other people's blogs.  I quickly developed favorites that I couldn't wait to arrive in my Inbox so I could see the latest creation that each stamper had made.

One of those favorites was Kim Heggins of

You may already be familiar with Kim's cards because she is on a bunch of different design teams including Merry Monday Christmas Challenge (which you've seen me participate in the last two weeks), Addicted to Stamps and More, The Card Concept and Cupcake Inspiration.  She also participates in challenges and has been a guest stamper for Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge Blog!

I've admired Kim's work for years!  In September, I decided to be brave and ask Kim if she'd like to do a Dual Post with me where we both used the same colors, sketch, technique or theme to create a card.  Much to my surprise, Kim admired my blog and said, "Yes!"

For our first post, we decided that we would use the same colors to make a card and then would share what each other created.
Kim picked these gorgeous colors!

cvetovaya-palitra-1584= NICE ***

Aren't they fabulous?!!

We both loved that they were colors you could see in fall, but they weren't just the usual red, orange, yellow, green and brown.

It took me a while to decide what stamp set I wanted to use with these rich, beautiful colors.  I knew I wanted my card to be a way to thank Kim for her encouragement over the years on my blog, so that had a huge influence on the set I chose to use.

In addition to being a fabulous stamper, if you follow Kim's Instagram Account, you know she's also an amazing seamstress.  She "whips" things up that would take me a month to make, like cute little travel bags and now gorgeous shirts!

With that in mind, I finally decided to use Lawn Fawn's Sewn with Love Stamp Set and Dies for my card.  I wasn't sure if they would work, but after I stamped, die-cut and began coloring my images with Copics, I was relieved to see that they all came together perfectly!  My sentiment, from the Sewn with Love set, was an easy choice because it fit Kim perfectly!  I used Lawn Fawn's Watercolor Wishes Petite Paper Pack for my background, so if you noticed the variation of blues in the paper, you're not imagining things!  That's what the Watercolor Wishes papers look like!  Although you can't tell in the picture, I adhered the spool of thread on top of the sewing machine, the scissors, and the jar of buttons with foam tape so they stand up from the card a little bit for some extra interest.  I used the Reverse Confetti Lacy Scallop Frame Die to frame the little sewing scene I had created which seemed to bring all the different pieces together nicely.  Everything is attached to a white card base, which you can see through the Lacy Scallop Frame.

Now please finish reading this and then
you must go visit Kim's blog,

to see the adorable card she made with the same colors.

Her card features one of my very favorite things at this time of year!
Take some time to look around at her cards while you're there.
Please leave her some love in the comments section of her blog, too!

I hope you've enjoyed this collaboration post as much as Kim and I
enjoyed doing it.  We've decided to make this a monthly feature on both of our blogs which is going to be super fun getting to know Kim better and seeing what we both create with the same guidelines each month!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today!
Please feel free to come back anytime!

Now go check out Kim's blog right now!

Have a wonderful weekend!
I have some stamping planned, so it should be a good one for me!

Such a fun card! Those tiny white scallops even looked like stitching to me at first. The collaboration with Kim makes it extra special. I'll look forward to your monthly feature!

Sew much fun! That is so cool that she collaborated with you. Both cards are really fun. I couldn't leave a comment on her blog but I liked it a latte! The scallops are a fun touch. You constantly amaze me with your coloring! Looking forward to your new monthly feature!
