Lawn Fawn Flutter By

Hello, Friends!

Did you know today, Saturday, October 3rd is World Cardmaking Day?  It is and I thought today would be perfect to share a card with you and give you a health update.

I hope you are all doing well!  I am alive and kicking!  Well, not kicking.  I did just have knee surgery.  I am alive though and that's the most important part, right?

First, thank you to all of you that have thought of me, said a prayer, or sent me messages for a successful surgery.  They worked!

The surgery on my knee went well.  There were two tears in my left meniscus and the doctor was able to do his magic and fix everything.  The worst part by far was that I didn't have the upper body strength to use the walker.  Getting into the house and up the stairs after surgery was not pretty, but I made it.  Once I got upstairs, I stayed upstairs in my bed.  Now that I can walk on my knee better, I'm not quite as confined but I still stay upstairs most of the time.  If I go downstairs, it wears me out so much that it's kind of pointless to do it.  Since I can get out of the house now, I will be able to start physical therapy this week.  I can barely get downstairs and sit for a couple of hours without being exhausted, so physical therapy should be a sight to behold!  I have it on Tuesday and Thursday next week, so I figure I can go Tuesday morning, come home, wake up from time to time to get some wiener dog kisses, go back to sleep and then get up for real on Thursday morning.  Please say another prayer or two for me because I'm gonna need 'em!

I have been a tiny bit crafty while I've been laid up.  I've scoured Pinterest and blogs like a hawk looking at all the great cards out there.  I've also separated some die sets and rounded off the sharp edges.  Then, I got blessed with a super fun present that I've been learning how to use.  I'll tell you about that later when I have a full card to show you.

I made this card featuring the Flutter By stamps and coordinating dies from Lawn Fawn.  I had stamped and cut the images out before surgery.  Someone suggested stamping images before surgery to color later and it was a great idea!  I knew what I wanted the card to look like, so I planned it all ahead of time.  I love the bright cheery colors of the flowers, colored with my Copics.  I didn't want the white edges on the flowers, so I colored all the way to the edge of the die cut flower.  I tried to shade everything as though the sun or light source was coming from the upper right corner so the darkest side would be on the left.  I'm not sure it's completely right, but I tried.  I usually just go for the light hitting the image right in the center, so it was a personal challenge for me.  The white cardstock is Neenah Solar White 110 lb and the gray is Smoky Slate, I think, from Stampin' Up.  The white panel is die cut with a My Favorite Things Double Stitched rectangle die.

I am entering my card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge.
I am also entering it in the Virginia's View Challenge #19 All Things Colored Challenge just in case I don't get to share another card there.

I don't know if I'll get to make another whole card, but I am going to color today for World Cardmaking Day.  I hope you get to take some time for yourself and get to make a card or two (or ten) today!

Until I have another update or a card to share with you,

Happy Stamping!

Gorgeous card! So pretty and colorful!

Wishing you good thoughts and prayers and well wishes on the PT - that will be an event in itself but hopefully totally worth it! Take care and give it some time.

I popped over here from Kathy Racoosin's 30 day coloring challenge blog post when your beautiful roses caught my eye, so I had to investigate! When I was laid up in the hospital a couple of weeks two summers ago, I had a lovely friend shower me with stamp-offs that I could color and make into thank you cards after I got out. She passed away the first day of the challenge and I shall miss her. Take all your physical therapy if you can as your legs will thank you later. My mother-in-law had both her knees done within a month of each other last fall. Now she is walking without any assistance at all and doing so well. Blessings!

How are you doing, Angela? I was expecting you'd be back to blogging before now, so I thought I'd stop in and check up on you. I hope you are recovering smoothly and pain free at last!! Hugs, Darnell
