You're So Good For My Heart

Hello, Friends!

Welcome to Wiener Dog Week
here on Life With a Wiener Dog!

It is Wiener Dog Week, because on Wednesday, I will share my 500th post with all of you!

When I was thinking about the best way to celebrate this momentous occasion, I decided my cards for this week should be extra-special.  What's more extra-special than wiener dogs?  I couldn't think of anything, so I declared this week Wiener Dog Week and got to work!

Today's card features one of my very favorite stamp sets.  "You Have My Heart" is a Birdie Brown set from My Favorite Things.  I like all of the Birdie Brown designs, but when this one came out featuring two little wiener dogs with two sweet girls, it was an absolute must-have, do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars, GET THIS STAMP SET NOW moment.

Now, I know some of you follow my blog for the cards and some of you follow my blog for the wiener dog, and just about everybody would get tired of only seeing cards with wiener dogs on them, so I try to restrain myself from only making cards with my wiener dog sets.  However, since it's Wiener Dog Week, I knew I could break this set out, again.

I chose pastel colors, which I don't usually do.  I usually go for bright colors because they look happy and I want my cards to make people happy.  However, this little girl with her dog is so sweet, so I decided to use sweet colors.  I hope it doesn't get overlooked, though, because it's not my typical bright card.  I'm trying to mix things up and use colors and supplies I don't usually reach for as often.  One thing that is good about the light pink and mint green colors are that the stamped image really stands out with them in the background.

You'd think the pink and green polka-dotted papers had to come from the same paper pack, but they did not.  However, they worked perfectly together.  I used My Favorite Things Blueprints 20 dies for the white scalloped rectangle and the stitched banner at the bottom.  I extended the banner by only die-cutting it half way, realigning the stitch marks on the paper I had cut, and then cutting it again so I could get a longer piece.  After I die cut the white banner, I used it to cut a banner just a little bit larger out of the pink cardstock with my paper trimmer and scissors for the banner ends.  I love the My Favorite Things Cross Stitched Circle dies.  I used to cross stitch all the time before stamping and I love the hand-made detail it gives to the circle.  The scalloped circle behind the cross stitch circle adds to that feel.

Now hold on to your seats because I may just shock you right out of them!
I did not use a sketch to make this card!
Are you with still with me?  I know it's hard to believe because I love sketch challenges.  I imagine there's a sketch or two out there that look like my card but I didn't follow any of them.

I just wanted to make this card on my own to celebrate Frank and all of you who offer your support by following, commenting and/or sharing my blog with others.  You are all so good for my heart, which is why I chose this sentiment for my card.

I'll see you on Wednesday to celebrate my 500th post!

Happy Stamping!
