Hey, Pumpkin

Hello, Friends!

It's almost Halloween so I wanted to share this sweet little cat with you.  My parents have a black cat just like it, except he is completely black- black hair, black nose, and even black inside his ears.  He is a rescue cat who was abused. The woman who brought him in was named Phyllis, so the shelter called him Phil.  I gave him his doctorate and started calling him Dr. Phil.  He is a good cat- still scared from time to time, especially of a wiener dog who runs and barks at him.  Even though we've been here for quite a while, Dr. Phil and Frank haven't learned to play together, although Frank would love to play with him.  I'm just happy Phil will let me pet him and scratch his head and chin.  So this card was created for Halloween and our black cat, Dr. Phil!

I used the Halloween photo based challenge at Fusion as part of the inspiration for my card.  The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is "Anything Goes," so any card can be entered in this week's challenge over at Simon.  This cat stamp is a Simon Says Stamp exclusive, so I'm especially glad to enter it in their contest this week.

Be sure to check back on Friday for a special Halloween surprise!

Happy Stamping!

FMS159 My Favorite Things Caramel Apple

Hello, Friends!

First, I apologize, yet again, for the break in posting.  As I'm sure you guessed it is still because of my back.  The short version is I have had more tests and definitely need back surgery because of two of my disks being seriously damaged.  Between the regular pain, the pain from the tests and going to the doctors office visits, and some depression about all of this taking so long, I haven't done much stamping.  Luckily, my back was a little better over the weekend, so I got busy and made some cards I had been wanting to make.  That brings me to today's card!

My Grandma is in a nursing home, not too far away, but because of my back, I can't stand to ride in the car to see her very often.  My Mom told me the other day that my Grandma had asked for a caramel apple.  I thought that sounded delicious and wanted one, too.  Since I had this adorable stamp from My Favorite Things with a little girl with a new caramel apple, I decided to make my Grandma a card with it.  We might not be able to eat our apples together, but this way she'll know I'm thinking of her when she has hers.

I used a sketch from "Freshly Made Sketches."  The goal of this blog is to keep your card clean-lined and fresh!  That was perfect for this simple little card I had in mind, so I replaced the circle with my little girl.  I had planned to use fall colors, obviously, so my card also fits the "Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Blog Challenge" to use the color Kraft in your project.  Kraft is the background color for my card.  It was the perfect neutral color to let the other fall colors shine in my card.  My little girl was put on the card with foam tape, or dimensionals, so she would stand up and out from the card.  I also added Glossy Accents on her apple and barrette just to give them a little bit of shine and texture.

Don't you love the autumn paper by Carta Bella?  I have another card to share using it so come back and check in soon!

Happy Stamping!
