Feeling Crumby?

Hello, Friends!

I've got another card to share with you, today!  As soon as I saw them, I loved the cookie based stamp set and dies from My Favorite Things I used for this card.  The stamp set, "Cookie Crumbs" features wonderful sayings.  I've listed some below.

"Stuff Happens.  Cookies Help"
"I'd Crumble Without You"
"You're The Milk To My Cookies"
"You're One Tough Cookie"

Aren't those fun??  This week, Freshly Made Sketches #271 Challenge featured a sketch that would be perfect for a row of cookies.  When I saw Color Thowdown #426's Challenge of using gray, red and brown, I knew I could combine the two and put my new cookie dies and stamp set to work!

My layers that correspond with the blue layers on the sketch challenge are much larger than the ones on this sketch, but my card is definitely based on it!

Instead of having straight border like the sketch,  I used matching border dies from My Favorite Things.  One set of dies has a stitched shape, where the other features the exact same shapes with scallops added to it.  So, I cut the Tiny Check Brights Paper with the straight dies and the red card stock with the shapes that have the scallops added.  I used the straight lines set, but there are other border designs, also.

You may have noticed that the cookie dies are not perfect circles.  I love this detail because very few homemade cookies are perfect circle.  My Favorite Things also thought to make a die for the chocolate chips.  I didn't put my chocolate chips in the pattern that the die has them and even added a few more because I didn't want each of my cookies to be identical.  Another awesome die included in this set is a line die shape so the cookie can have a bite taken out of it, but again, it's not the perfect bite shape which adds to the realistic touch.  When I decided to make this a Get Well card by using the "Feeling Crumby?" sentiment, I decided one of my cookies should be broken into pieces.  I achieved this by using the "bite" line die to cut my cookie into four parts.  When I adhered it to my card, I made sure to leave a little bit of white space between the pieces to achieve a crumby look.  I added tiny strips of gray paper right above and right below my panel for the cookies and sentiment.  This tied into the gray paper that I used for my base.  I could have used a white base, since I had added my gray in the stips, but it actually looked beter on the gray.

Because I used Never Before Used Schtuff, my stamp set, dies and paper pad, I'm also entering my card in the Never Before Used Schtuff Challenge.

Happy Stamping!

Cute card! They look good enough to eat! I was having sort of a crummy day and decided to treat me to a salted caramel chocolate chip cookie at Arby's after my physical therapy. It was good but I am still sort of grouchy and blue! I guess I will just have to look at your card wistfully with the cheery red checked tablecloth pattern! Maybe you could make me the Stuff Happens. Cookies Help sometime! This is definitely a fun set to play with!
