You Make My Tail Wag!

Hello, Friends!

I hope you have all had a good week!  I am thankful to say the end of the week has gone better than the beginning of this week.  I have had a sinus infection that refused to go away, even with antibiotics, and I'm dealing with some health problems related to my back being hurt for so long.  I have all these things I want to do and cards I want to make in my head but my body has not wanted to cooperate!

Finally, on Wednesday night, I was able to make a card!  Unfortunately, after it was completed, I had to go lay down, so I'm not getting to share it with you until Thursday.  I apologize to those of you who have come to my blog expecting a new card and there wasn't one there for you to see!

With that being said, let me tell you about today's card!  I used the My Favorite Things set, "You Make My Tail Wag!"  I have loved this set since the day it came out.  Unfortunately for me, so did everyone else and every time I went to order it, it was sold out.  It would come back into stock at various stores and then sell out again.  Knowing what a dog lover I am, I was not deterred!  Finally, I was finally able to get my hands on it!  WOO HOO!!!  It arrived in the mail late Wednesday afternoon and by Wednesday night, I had made my first (of many) cards with it!

I made my card based on the My Favorite Things Summer School Lesson on Repetition.  You can find their whole Summer School series here.  I highly recommend that you check it out because it is very informative.  The lesson on repetition teaches, 

"Repetition is the repeating of visual elements such as line, color, shape, texture, value, or image. Using repetition tends to unify the total effect of a card’s design as well as create rhythm."

For my card, I decided to use repetition to make my background paper.  I wanted it to look like I had taken a piece of printed paper, cut it, and added it to my card.  I started with the dog houses in the middle and then worked my way up and down to complete the patterns.  Thanks to the MISTI, they are all in a straight line and the same length away from the other items in the same line.   For my first try at this, I think it turned out pretty well.  

After all of my images were stamped, I colored them with my Copics.  I added the sweet dog and the sentiment in a separate circle in the corner with foam tape because I wanted them to stand out from the background paper.  I didn't add any other embellishments, though, because I wanted the background paper to stand out if for no other reason than I worked hard coloring it.  :)

I hope you like this stamp set because I can guarantee you are going to see more cards with it!  I'll try to still use all my of other great stamp sets but it's going to be hard.  I can definitely say this set was worth the wait and absence made my heart grow fonder for it!
