Party This Way with Balloons!

Hello, Friends!

This is one of my favorite birthday cards that I've made lately.  It was simple to make, but cute.  It's bright and cheery, too.  I also like that the colors could be changed easily.  I think it would be cute in red and green for December birthdays or in school colors for kids away at college.  This set isn't very expensive either, so it would be a great first purchase for new stampers!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

No Card Today

I was all prepared to stamp today, my day off, and get ahead on my blog postings.  Instead, I got a horrible headache.  It's the kind that feels like someone has hit you in the back of the head with a baseball bat and then like your brain is banging into your skull.  Trust me, it's bad.

So, if you came for the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog hop, you can see Deb Currier's card at http://www.artfeltimpressions.blogspot.com/.  Then you can make your own card and show us at http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/

Happy Stamping to all of you without headaches.
Happy sleeping to those who have headaches.

SQSC1 Not So Seriously

Hello, Friends!

This is an exciting day!  Stampin Queens Sketch Challenge begins with our very first sketch today!  If you click the name above, it will take you directly to the site.  I am very fortunate to be on Stampin Queen's design team with some amazing stampers!  The sketches will be posted every Wednesday.  Let me tell you- they are fabulous!  They're not as simple as my usual designs so I will get to stretch and grow as a stamper which is always a good thing!

Now for the good news for you!  If you participate in our first challenge, you will have a chance to win one of three ribbon packages!  Random.org will pick the winners and each winner will win current SU ribbon!  Believe me- there's no such thing as having too much ribbon!

I combined the new Stampin Queen's sketch challenge with the LNS Challenge for this week- using your favorite things to make a card or project.

Obviously, one of my very favorite things is Frank!

I was sad to see the SU set retire that had a wiener dog in it last June.  Luckily, there was a new stamp set in the 2011-2012 catalog with a weenie in it!  I love all dogs so I knew I had to have this set.  I chose "J is for Joy" for all the joy our fur babies bring to our lives, big or small, short or tall!

Take a moment to be thankful for the favorite things that bring joy to your life-
great new card sketches, wiener dogs, and much, much more!

Happy Stamping!

Hello, Friends!

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the new week ahead!

The LNS Challenge this week is to feature your favorite thing(s) in a card or project.  (Don't worry!  I haven't forgotten Frank.  He'll be featured on Wednesday!)  Besides Frank, I love beautiful flowers.  This stamp set, "Love and Care" has many of them.  It is only available through the end of August, so I wanted to be sure and show it off one last time.  This card includes more things that I love, too- rich colors, pretty ribbon, patterned papers, and making cards for special friends.  This card definitely features some of my favorite things.

Happy Stamping!

SU Stars Fancy Folds Blog Hop- The Nicest Things

Hello, Friends!

Welcome to the SU Stars August Blog Hop "Fancy Folds!"

You may have arrived from the SU Stars Homepage.  If you get lost during the hop, you can go back to that page and you'll find all the stops on the hop!

Although I've made a lot of cards, I have to admit that I have never made a card with a fancy fold!  So, I decided to start easy and make one of the most common fancy folds- the gate fold.  I used one solid sheet of 12" x 5 1/2" Designer Series Paper and folded the paper at 2", 4", 8", and 10".  Adding an extra fold  at 2" and 8" allowed me to show the other side of the Designer Series Paper on the front of the card.

On the inside of the card, I added a coordinating piece of Designer Series Paper to make it look a little more fancy.  Since the paper was dark, I added a piece of Whisper White Card Stock so I will be able to write on the inside.  Adding a small sentiment with the scallop oval continued the scallop "theme" from the front of the card.

This card was pretty simple to make but has a bit of a "wow" factor because of the fancy fold.  I will definitely be making more of these cards.  I think they'd be very cute with Christmas paper.

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

The Nicest Things and Occasions Alphabet Stamp Sets
Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Marina Mist, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Classic Inks
Black Stazon Ink Pad
Blush Blossom Stampin' Write Marker
Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, and Elegant Eggplant Card Stock
In Color 2011-2013 and Regals Patterns Designer Series Paper
3/8" Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon
Circle Scissor Plus
Large Oval and Scallop Oval Punches
Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die
Big Shot
Blender Pens
Sticky Strip

SFF Turtle and Co.

Hello, Friends!

Let me start with a disclaimer.  I do not want anyone I know and love to be hurt or sick.

That being said, I think this card is so cute and I can't wait to send it to someone.  (Thus the need for the disclaimer.)
I also know I made it and am not trying to brag.  Those little frogs are just so cute!  So, if someone I know does get sick or hurt, I have a cute card that will hopefully put a smile on their face and cheer them up a little bit!

I created this sketch for Sketch Frenzy Friday, today.  I tried putting my frogs so the card was vertical like the sketch.  However, the words looked scrunched that way.  So, I changed the direction and added some brads and my little froggy card was born!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Turtle and Co. Stamp Set
Lucky Limeade Classic Ink
Black Stazon Ink
Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, and Lucky Limeade Card Stock
Brights Brads
Modern Label Punch
Punch Windows Magnetic Movers and Shapers

Blender Pen

A Word For You, Flower Fest

Hello, Friends!

On Monday, I shared a card I made after stamping a whole sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" piece of card stock with the "Flower Fest" stamp set.

This is another card I made using another piece of that background.  You'll notice a lot of birthday cards while I'm trying to get ahead on everyone's birthdays coming up!

To give this card some dimension and make it a little more fancy, I stamped the big round flower four times in Pool Party.  I cut three of the layers out and adhered them with Stampin' Dimensionals.  They will flatten out a little bit in the mail but will still give the card some depth.  I also colored in some of the flower petals and leaves lightly to make it stand out from the background.  Since my background was already finished, it didn't take long to make this birthday card.

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin Up products to make this card:

Flower Fest and A Word For You Stamp Sets
Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant Classic Inks

TSSC187 Flower Fest

Hello, Friends!

I hope you had as good of a weekend as we had here in Chandler!

This weekend, we had a grand opening for the new building we built at Chandler Christian Church.  It will mainly be used to reach jr. high and high schoolers, but will also have family days and other events in it.  It is awesome!  We were able to build the building and pay off a half a million dollar loan with the money people have given, in spite of the economy and people being out of work.  I got to meet lots of wonderful people this weekend giving rides in a golf cart to people coming to the new building.  Our church is growing!  The nursery, preschool, and elementary areas have grown 18% in the last year alone, which is pretty much unheard of and makes my job even better- getting to work with all of those new elementary kids!

I don't write any of this to brag, but to give God glory for all that He is doing at Chandler Christian!  I am blessed to get to be the elementary pastor here.

Now on to stamping!

If you haven't ever done so already, I'm giving you an assignment.
Take one of your favorite stamp sets, with your favorite colors and stamp all over an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of card stock, like my example below.  This will give you instant backgrounds for your cards.  My card today, with the sketch made by Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge, features a background made with "Flower Fest."  It's simple, but sweet.  My card on Wednesday will also feature another piece from this background sheet.

It makes creating a card much faster when you already have some of these backgrounds ready to go!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Flower Fest and Thank You Kindly Stamp Sets
Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder, and Elegant Eggplant Classic Inks

VC Rocks Punches Galore Build a Blossom Butterfly

Hello and welcome to the August VC Rocks blog hop.  This is our final hop for this year, so I hope you enjoy it!  On this hop, you will see lots of creations made with Stampin' Up punches.

You can begin the blog hop by going to http://www.vcrocks.blogspot.com/.  You can also go to Patrice Herrera's blog, "My Little Patch of Dirt."  Patrice is a great stamper and friend!

I have to admit, punch art is not my gift.  99% of the time, I really can't look at punches and see how to make other shapes with them.  However, the other day, I saw some butterflies in a magazine and they reminded me of one of the "Build a Blossom" petals.  So, I stamped and punched out four petals, and sure enough, it made a butterfly!

I am really happy with how it turned out and can see a whole herd...or flock...or a bunch of butterflies made in pinks, oranges, and yellows.  :)

I hope you've enjoyed my stop on the VC Rocks Blog Hop!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

SFF Happiest Birthday Wishes

Hello, Friends!

It's time for a Sketch Frenzy Friday card! Manly birthday cards are the hardest for me to make, by far. So, when I saw the "Well Worn" Designer Series Paper in the new catalog, I at least knew what paper and colors I could reach for in the new Stampin' Up year! :)
This is the first card I made with it. I love how all of Stampin' Up's things match, so I could choose ribbon, papers, and inks that all go together. That definitely makes those tough cards a little easier.

Since my sentiment was the focal point of this card, I added ribbon to give the card a little more detail.
Happy Stamping!
I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Happiest Birthday Wishes Stamp Set and Wonderfully Worn Background Stamp
Not Quite Navy Classic Ink Pad
Cajun Craze Stampin' Write Marker

3/8" Not Quite Navy Taffeta Ribbon
Metallics Brads

Just Us Girls Challenge 96 Turtle and Co.

Hello, Friends!

I found a new challenge blog this week.  It's called, "Just Us Girls."  I really liked their sketch and thought it would make a cute belated birthday card.

Isn't this little turtle a sweetie?!  Stampin' Up donates money to the Ronald McDonald House Charities from the sale of this stamp set, "Turtle and Co."  After visiting a little guy in Phoenix Children's Hospital this week which has a Ronald McDonald house, I can testify to the great work they do for families facing tough circumstances.  So it's a great set for a lot of reasons!

Happy Stamping!

SSC215 and PPA105 Inspired by Nature

Hello, Friends!

My card for today combines a couple different challenges.  When I saw the color challenge on Pals Paper Arts, I knew I had to make a card for it.  I love the bright cheery colors they put together.  I also liked the sketch challenge featured on Stamping 411.  Using the stamp set, "Inspired by Nature," I tried to make this card a little "over the top" from my usual style.  Adding dimensionals behind the flower, cut grass, the bow and brads all gave this card depth with features that literally stand out.  I hope you like it!

Happy Stamping!

SFF Sunny Fun

Hello, Friends!

It's Friday which means we've all made it through a long week!  Mine included a root canal which is not a fun way to spend any part of a week!  However, it also included some great blessings.  Although, I had a lot of things I worried about, God took care of each thing for me.  He didn't even need my help!

Here are some of the top blessings on my list.  My parents are a great support, in lots of different ways.  I have a great friend who was there when I felt like I was at the end of my rope.  Frank is recovering very nicely from his surgery and didn't have to wear a cone to keep from licking his incisions.  I had dental insurance to cover that root canal.  An amazing Christian landscaper came and fixed the sprinkler system in my back yard that had decided to quit working before the home owners association came to get me.  The brown spots are quickly turning green again!  He even prayed for me when I told him what kind of week it had been.  What an unexpected blessing!

Next week, I will try to remember how everything this week turned out.  I want to trust more and worry less.

This card is based on the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch for this week.  I tilted my elements a little bit to give my card more of a light, whimsical feeling.

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Sunny Fun Stamp Set and Distressed Dots Background Stamp

TSSC185 and LNS Punch Challenge WIENER DOG!!!

Hello, Friends!

This week, the LNS Challenge is to make a project with punch art.  Here's a little secret- I am not punch gifted.  I love all of the amazing things I see that you stampers create with punches.  I could have copied one, but I didn't want to cheat!

Here's another little secret.  I cannot draw...anything.  I can't draw a circle or a square or anything more complex...except for one thing.

I can draw a wiener dog.  You draw one big triangle for the face and two little triangles for the ears.  (You can also draw a long rectangle for the body and stick legs if you want the whole dog.)  It seems appropriate that the one thing I can draw is Frank and it truly is the one thing.

So, using squares I cut into triangles, this is the closest thing to punch art I can create on my own.  Luckily, it is cute because wiener dogs are cute!

I also used Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge which I turned on it's side to make my card.  It's a great design!

Happy Stamping or Punching!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Wonderfully Worn Background Stamp
Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker
Whisper White, Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze, Baja Breeze, and Basic Gray Card Stock
Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper
1/2" Tangerine Tango Scallop Dots Ribbon
Metallic Brads
Stamping Dimensionals

and Frank for my model.

CCMC160 Happiest Birthday Wishes

Hello, Friends!

When I saw the Stampin' Up hostess set, "Happiest Birthday Wishes," I knew it was a set I would be able to use a lot! I make birthday cards for all of my elementary leaders, plus friends and family. I've never made more than 3 of the same cards, which also means I make a lot of different birthday cards! Using the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary helped me create one more cute birthday card for a special leader!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Happiest Birthday Wishes Stamp Set
Wild Wasabi Classic Ink
Whisper White, Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Baja Breeze, and Wild Wasabi Card Stock
Just Eat Cake Designer Series Paper
1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon
1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch
Stampin Dimensionals

P.S. Thank you to all of you that expressed your concern for Frankfurter. Thursday night was a little rough for him, but he's getting better each day. No more crying for his mommy. He's laying by my desk eating a bone right now, so everything is getting back to normal! Thanks, again!

Hugs and Kisses to you all from Frank
