No SFF this week- Frankfurter time instead

My sweet Frankfurter had surgery today. He had to have a couple of teeth removed and some little lumps removed from his legs. Every time, I tried to leave him to go to my stamping table, he would start to whine.

Since Frankfurter comes before stamping, I don't have a card for this week. I had been ahead in stamping and posting on my blog, but... you know how that goes!

You can see Deb Currier's card that she made for today's sketch at www.artfeltimpressions.blogspot.com. Then, you can create your own sketch based on today's sketch and show us at www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com.

See you on Monday!

Happy Stamping

LNS Challenge 131 All White Daisies

Hello, Friends!

Since I cheated a little on my "all white" card for Monday by using Basic Gray and Basic Black, I decided to make another one. This one is definitely all white. The sketch comes from Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. The "all white" was hard for me. I wanted to put a bright yellow or pink button on the flower but I resisted. It's good to take on an uncomfortable challenge sometimes!
Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:
Whisper White Card Stock
Square Lattice and Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folders
Daisies #2 Flower Bigz Die

LNS Challenge 131 All White Word Play

Hello, Friends!

This week's LNS Design Team Challenge is to make an "all white" card, except for the sentiment which can be stamped in color. I made two variations of the same basic card for this challenge. I tried just stamping the sentiment on the white cardstock, but it looked very plain, so I added the gray and black mats. Which do you prefer, the top card which is all white or the bottom one, with the extra matting in gray and black?

As a suprise to me, I actually like the top one the best. It seems more simple and elegant with a hint of whimsy for a special wedding. That's right- just a hint of whimsy! :)
Happy Stamping!
I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

SFF Button Buddies

Hello, Friends!
This week I made a simple birthday card for our Sketch Frenzy Friday Challenge. I used the set, "Button Buddies." I also used this set on Monday, July 11th for the little pig birthday card. Although you can use it without adding the buttons, each stamp in this set is designed to be used with Stampin' Up buttons. I think the buttons on the cherries make this card extra cute!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up supplies to make this card:

Button Buddies and A Word for You Stamp Sets
Real Red and Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers
Whisper White, Real Red, and Garden Green Card Stock

White Baker's Twine

LNS Challenge 130 Lean On Me

Hello, Friends.

When I saw this stamp in the new catalog, I knew I had to have it. I want to be the kind of friend that will catch your tears when you cry. That being said, I hope this card sits on my shelf for a long time which will mean that I don't need to send it to anyone. But, should one of my friends need it, this card will be ready and so will I.
Thank you to all the friends in my life who have caught my tears.

TSSC183 and LNS Challenge Posy Punch and Daring Adventure

Hello, Friends!

The card I made today is not my usual style. However, I wanted to showcase two new stamp sets that worked well with this sketch. The flowers are from the Hostess Set, "Posy Punch." All of the flowers in it can be punched out with the Fancy Flower punch. The sentiment, which I love, comes from the set, "Daring Adventure." I think you're going to be seeing a lot of cards made from this set in the future!

My sketch comes from Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. Although I added an extra flower, I needed it to balance the card. The LNS Design Team challenge for this week is to make a project using items from the new catalog. By using two new stamp sets, this card fits!

Happy Stamping!

SFF Turtle and Co. Birthday

Happy Friday, Friends!

This week's card features a new stamp set, "Turtle and Co."  With each purchase of this set, Stampin' Up donates $3 to Ronald McDonald House Charities. By featuring a RMHC set each year with this promised donation, Stampin' Up has donated over $1,000,000 to them. Knowing a family who is currently staying in a Ronald McDonald House, it makes it even more special.
Not to mention, it's cute, too!

This card is for a special little guy who's birthday is next week. I hope it's a happy one for him!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

SSC211 and LNS Inspiration Challenge Field Flowers

Hello, Friends!

I combined a couple different challenges to create this card. The sketch comes from www.stamping411.blogspot.com. This sketch could be used for a wide variety of card styles. The picture below is the inspiration challenge for the LNS Design Team Challenge. I used the white, green, and orange from the photo for my colors. I picked a pattern that was similar to the cushion on the seat of the bench and orange flowers like the tulips. There is creative inspiration everywhere!

Happy Stamping!

I used the following Stampin' Up supplies to make this card:

Field Flowers and Thoughts and Prayers Stamp Sets
Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze, and Lucky Limeade Classic Ink Pads
Whisper White, Tangerine Tango, and Lucky Limeade Card Stock

SFF Button Buddies

On Friday, I said that I wanted to come back to this sketch after I was finished with after effects of "The Haboob that Hit Phoenix." I'm happy to announce my house is now clean and dirt free again! I've dusted, washed, or vacuumed everything in the house that didn't move.

The haboob gave me a new found compassion for those who deal with natural disasters. Although my house was dirty, it was still standing and I knew I could get it in shape again. My heart goes out to those who have battled floods and tornadoes this year.

For this past Friday's Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge, I created this card featuring the new Stampin' Up stamp set "Button Buddies." Each stamp is designed to work with buttons on it. Although the pig's nose was cute when it was just stamped, I think the button makes it even cuter. I also added the party hat from "Turtle & Co." which fits on the pig's head perfectly. This made card into a birthday card for a special little one in my life.

Happy Stamping!
I used the following Stampin' Up products to make this card:

Blushing Bride, Rose Red, Baja Breeze, and Early Espresso Classic Ink Pads

VC Rocks ABC Blog Hop with Daisies

Hello and welcome to the July VC Rocks Blog Hop!
On this hop, you'll be seeing projects that are Anything But a Card!

You can begin the tour by going to www.vcrocks.blogspot.com or just go to www.stampingfunwithkim.blogspot.com to see the previous blog in the hop.

For this tour, I wanted to break out my Stampin' Up Big Shot Daisies #2 Flower Bigz Die. I had seen a lot of great projects made with it so I wanted to make some of my own.

I made my first flower as a plant stake to stick in one of my plants in my living room. Stampin' Up's Cherry Cobbler Card Stock matches one of the colors in my couch. I love how it turned out!

After making one flower, I had to make another one! This time I used Real Red and Cherry Cobbler to match some of the accents in my kitchen. I like the variation in color and depth that it added. This is a magnet on my refrigerator.

Finally, I thought my amazing new Stampin' Up catalog deserved an accessory of it's own. So, I created one more flower as a bookmark for my new catalog. I used the Real Red and Cherry Cobbler combination again which matched the cover of the catalog nicely.

I hope you've enjoyed my stop on the blog hop. Although there's no stamping, Stampin' Up provides products that can be used for a wide variety of projects- not just cards!

Happy Creating!

I used the following Stampin' Up products to make these projects:

Real Red and Cherry Cobbler Card Stock
Bigz Daisies Flower #2 Die
Big Shot
Hemp Twine
Regals Buttons
Antique Brads

SFF and Revenge of the Haboob

Bu
This is not my best card ever. I apologize because this is a great sketch. Later in the coming week, I will come back to it and make a better one. I blame the Revenge of the Haboob.

Haboobs are no longer funny to me, even with the name "haboob."

"Why?" you ask.

Because when the dust settles, literally, the dust settles...everywhere.
Everywhere.

My entire house has a fine layer of brown dust on everything.
Everything.

There is a pile of dirt inside my front door from when the 50 mph winds blew it in. My couch and loveseat have that dust on them. The floor, the Stampin' Up catalog on my coffee table, the coffee table, the cupboard doors in the kitchen, all my appliances, everything is covered in that dust.

I spent hours tonight cleaning my living room and kitchen and they still need vacuumed and mopped again.

I had planned to use my new stamps which came today to make the Sketch Frenzy Friday card. I was not procrastinating. I had planned this for over a week. But when it was time to stamp, I was exhausted. So, on my stamp table I had just cleaned, was this green and pink Sizzix cut out with the butterfly and flower punches on it. It had the square from the sketch on it and was close enough and I was tired enough that I tried to make it work for this sketch. The bow didn't look right on the side horizontally, so I had to put it on vertically.

Tomorrow, I will add the ingredients for this card, but now I'm going to bed.

I fought the haboob and the haboob won.

Go to Deb Currier's blog at www.artfeltimpressions.blogspot.com to see a better card made with this sketch. Then make your own and share it with us at www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com.

Happy Stamping!

Love, Angela and the wiener dog
who slept on the couch the whole time I was cleaning.

I believe this is where the phrase "Lucky Dog" originated.

Giant Dust Storm

Remember in yesterday's post, which I actually wrote on Tuesday night, that I said I hated feeling the dust and dirt in the air in Phoenix? Well, what I didn't know at the time was that we were about to get hit by a giant dust storm. Just so you don't think I'm a complaining grumpy-pants, I have included pictures of the storm from the AP Press. The storm was 50 miles wide and 1 mile high. It was moving at 50 miles an hour. When I thought it was raining, it was the dirt and debris in the air hitting my house and roof.

Even today (Wednesday), you can still taste and smell the dust in the air and feel it in your eyes. Everything that was outside this morning was covered in a layer of dust. Air conditioners sucked it into all of our houses and buildings so everything inside needs to be vacuumed and dusted too. Because the dust and dirt is still settling tonight, my car which only had a little dust on it because it was in my garage, was covered in a layer or dust when I left work tonight. I had to run my windshield wipers to remove the dust so I could see to drive home.
The pictures are amazing. It looks like something from a science fiction movie.
The only funny part is that these storms are also called "Haboobs." While it is funny in a "jr. high boy" kind of way, the fact that the Phonix metro area was hit by a giant, monstrous haboob, is kind of hilarious.

"What happened to you?"
"I was hit by a giant haboob."

Ah, life with a wiener dog in the desert. Remind me again why we live here?

FTL147 Every Little Bit

Hello, Friends!

It's been windy and rainy in Phoenix tonight. It's always great to hear the rain when it's been about six months since it last rained. Unfortunately, when the wind blows first, you can smell and taste the dirt in the air. The other problem is that it will now be 106 and humid tomorrow. I hate that even more! So, I'm posting this card on my blog and then I'm going to bed. I am tired, but then I also won't be able to taste all the dirt in the air and will be less grumpy about it in my sleep. :)

On the bright side, my first order from the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! catalog will be here by the end of this week! That puts a smile on my face, even if I do end up with a little dust on it.

This card isn't officially "baby" but I made it for a friend who is expecting a baby girl any day now. I know she'll receive lots of baby themed items so I wanted to make it a little different- celebrating all the girly things in their future.
Thanks to Clean and Simple Stamping for the great sketch!

Happy Stamping!
(even if it's dusty and hot where you live)

SFF Love and Care

I am happy to announce that Frank had a very happy 10th birthday. He received birthday cards in the mail, one with a wiener dog on it. He enjoyed pizza for dinner, his favorite. For dessert, he had a new bone from his Grandma and Grandpa. Now he's asleep on my lap. It was a good day for the little Fella.

Today is an exciting day because the new 2011-2012 Stampin' Up catalog is officially open for business. I already have my order ready to go! I can hardly wait for it to arrive next week!

In the mean time, I have used a stamp set from the Summer Mini catalog for my Sketch Frenzy Friday card today. "Love and Care" is so beautiful. I can't wait to make more cards with it! You can see some of the new 2011 In Colors, Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeade, in this card to get you ready for a new Stampin' Up year.

Happy Stamping!
